Slacker!! Entry 2

In my last post I told you what a slacker I have become at blogging so here is my attempt to be better. Wow!! 2 days in a row does that make up for it yet?? I know my life has become some what boring as I age and run out of energy but this my way to journal as well so here comes....

Entry 2:
In previous posts I told you about my best buds from high school and how we get together every 3 months, remember? Well these friends came to be my friends in 11 grade when I needed them so badly. My life up to this point was a real mess, I had had no direction in my life and was teetering between a some what double life. I had begun taking seminary (for those of you that aren't LDS that is a class offered to youth in 9th grade through 12th to take time out of regular school to be taught religion) in 9th grade not really knowing why but living a life that was contrary to the lessons being taught there. At any moment I could have ruined what I have now grasped as the greatest blessing in my life. I was not raised in a religious home but knew I wanted something different. The turning point for me came when I was in 11th grade and this really cool guy became interested in me. Maybe that is shallow to you but I did say high school and to me it was life altering. I had felt at the time that if he could like me then maybe I might be worth something to some one and if so maybe to my Father in Heaven. Well to make a long story short I began dating this guy, we had so much fun together and it was so refreshing to date a truly nice guy. I visited with my seminary teacher about my life up to this point and asked his advice in how to make things right and put my life in order. I spent many hours with Bro. Garr and he became my greatest supporter and friend. He counseled me and sent me in search for the Bishop in what was soon to be my ward. I met with him and he counseled me in what things I needed to do as well. I was now armed with what I now knew had to be done so that I could be the person I had wanted to be for a long time, it would be hard but I needed to change my friends so that I could have good examples in my life. Wow! In high school starting over was very frightening but I knew it had to be done. What a crucial time in youths lives to make a move like this! I decided to start my search in my own ward (a church you are assigned to depending upon where you live). I attended the Young Women's group in my ward and was welcomed with open arms and grew to love so deeply my YW's president and the girls there... but most of all the message of the atonement of my Savior Jesus Christ. I gained a testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ there and I gained life long friends that I cherish (Wendy, Laura and Lori). We were so lucky to also hook up with Alison and Linda at school and soon they joined our tight group of friends that I cherish as well. I would not be where I am today without these precious daughters of God. Thanks ladies for helping me through those days when I needed you most and for being here now.
Man! That went where I hadn't intended it too!! So on to our day together. We decided to change things up from getting together for dinner in the evening and gabbing to hopping on the train in Layton and going to Salt Lake for lunch and what girls like best SHOPPING!

Lori, Alison, Wendy and Laura.
Linda couldn't make it this day and we missed her terribly!
We still act like we did in high school as you can tell from this little gem!!
This is Wendy who hates her picture taken worse than any thing else! Talk to the hand woman! She WAS known in high school as fast hands (inside joke).

This is Laura and Lori across the street in front of the Clark Planetarium after jay walking and the rest of us law abiding citizens are waiting for the crossing signal to change!

We ate at one of my favorite restaurants, window shopped, watch the kids play in the fountain (I'm still waiting for Laura to send me pictures of us there trying to avoid getting too wet. Since my camera had an accident with the ground while there), had ice cream and visited the new church library. It was a fun and great time enjoyed by good friends. Man am I blessed to have such good friends!

Entry 3 tomorrow or even more realistically on Monday!
