This is my friend Joann and me, on one of our Lake Powell trips before she got sick. We went every year for many years together. She was a fighter and endured almost 5 years fighting ovarian cancer. She never complained to me either, I had the chance to spend some time with her when she was sick. I would sit with her at the hospital, she let me do her laundry and straighten her house up occasionally. When she lost her hair I brought her a silk scarf from China to cover her naked head, she wore it often. We enjoyed each others company and our husbands so we went to dinner a lot. She loved my kids (she had a talent at spoiling kids and making them feel like they were her friend as well) and I love hers. We made wreaths together one Christmas that I still have and think of her when I hang it up. Her mom and my mom worked together at Weber State when they were younger and were friends too. But I didn't meet her until I met Scott and she was dating his best friend Mike. We became fast friends but we grew closer over the years vacationing together and especially when she was sick. I miss her terribly, she has been gone for over a year now!!! The day of her burial her sister asked me to be sure and do her temple work for her in a year. Well, tomorrow is the big day! I am so excited and pray with everything I have that I will feel her at the temple with us then. Her husband and family will be waiting in the waiting room while Pam and Paul, Cheryl and Mike, and Scott and I do her work and witness it. She has waited patiently for this day and soon she will have it completed. One day when her husband joins the church and her children become active they can be sealed as a family for time and all eternity. I look forward to that day too and pray I am alive to see it. I love this church and it's teaching about eternal life in families. Friends are like family and are important to our salvation too. I love and appreciate my family and friends so much. I could never be happy without them around me and the Lord knows that. I look forward to one day seeing my dear friend again but until I do I need to live the best I can so she will welcome me there with open arms!
