Trials :o(

Have you ever had a trial come into your life that has you grasping for a life preserver that is just beyond reach? Well one has hit our family and hit us hard. I will not post what that trial is or how it has come into our family and please don't ask. It is private and I hope we can do all in our power to overcome it. After all we can do we will turn over the rest to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

When something hits to rock your world, how do you cope? I truly would like to know.

We have rallied together as a family. We will rely on the Lord and we will rise above this and come out better people I hope. I find comfort in the words from the scriptures and living prophets.

I Nephi 17:13 And I will also be your light in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led towards the promised land; and ye shall know that it is by me that ye are led.

President James E Faust;
"The Divine Shepherd has a message of hope, strength, and deliverance for all. If there were no night, we would not appreciate the day, nor could we see the stars and the vastness of the heavens. We must partake of the bitter with the sweet. There is a divine purpose in the adversities we encounter every day. They prepare, they purge, they purify, and thus they bless."

"Here, then, is a great truth. In the pain, the agony, and the heroic endeavors of life, we pass through a refiner’s fire, and the insignificant and the unimportant in our lives can melt away like dross and make our faith bright, intact, and strong. In this way the divine image can be mirrored from the soul. It is part of the purging toll exacted of some to become acquainted with God. In the agonies of life, we seem to listen better to the faint, godly whisperings of the Divine Shepherd."

I know that through this trial, we will be made stronger through our Savior who atoned for us and all men, women and children. He atoned for our sins, our weaknesses and our infirmities, He atoned for all who have lived, who now live and all who will yet live! My testimony remains strong and will be made stronger through Him, Jesus Christ.

I am so sorry to hear that things aren't so great right now. If there's anything we can do to help, let us know. You were always there for us, we'd love to return the favor.

When things get tough for our family, I just try to focus on the positive - A happy marriage, healthy children, etc. And remind myself that there's always more I can do to serve my Heavenly Father. That always brings peace to my life.

I'll keep you in my prayers!

Diane, I don't know if this will apply in your situation, but about a year ago I faced a personal trial that I was certain was insurmountable. My relationships, my testimony, and even my family were at great risk. I just wanted to disappear rather than cope with what was happening. I wrote about it vaguely on my blog: http://thepetteys.blogspot.com/2009/11/hope-on-horizon.html and included some links that helped me find hope when I thought there was none to be found. I have to admit, I'm still not out of the woods yet, but clinging to that hope has helped me to learn "line upon line" what I need to know. I definitely agree that it is a refiner's fire and I'm learning to appreciate the process now. Our Heavenly Father is RIGHT HERE to help us get where we need to be and as long as we keep that communication open, we can trust where he leads us. I feel like I'm preaching to the choir here because you are such a strong example to me. I'm so glad you have your family to support you in this trial. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Much love, Katie

Thanks for the quotes Diane. I really hope things will get better soon. Life is just too hard sometimes. It seems like it just gets harder as we age instead of easier. I don't really have an answer as to get through trials. Still trying to figure that one out for myself on a daily basis. I do know that Heavenly Father gave us friends and family we can lean on each other for support and friendship. Even if it's just someone to take your mind off the situation it's sometimes a relief of sorts. Hope all is better soon. Thanks for being such a great example! Love ya.
