Painting mania!

I think I have made myself perfectly clear about how much I hate winter, right? For some reason this one has seemed especially long to me so I decided a few posts back to redecorate on a low budget. The easiest and cheapest way is to paint things you would really like to replace and walla...........it looks new.

Do you have furniture like me that is not really the same wood color in some rooms? Most of my stuff is old and just needed a new fresh look.I forgot to take some before pictures so I apologize but here are the after pictures. I did get the printer stand but not the desks before look. I picked up some heritage white satin paint and dark brown and went to work making my old stuff look more vintage!
This hangs over my desk and I just painted the edges and corners for the vintage distressed look so it would match the desk.

This is an old end table I bought from my sister when I got married like 100 years ago...well 33 to be exact. We have two and they were pretty beat up (four kids later). They were really dark brown almost black and my boys have them in their rooms for night stands. They look even older now but so much more beautiful. I just painted them the heritage white and added the brown on the corners, edges and in the molding to give it the distressed look.

Then on to the bathroom. I had this towel rack that was all white so I added the brown paint to make it look distressed too.

My medicine cabinet was a light oak color so, yup! You got it I had to paint it to match the towel rack.

I think my husband is happy with the results but has said "enough already!", so I guess I must stop. I have my eye on a few more pieces I would like to paint so I will have to work up to that. Maybe some cupboards next year, who knows!

I still have a few more weeks of winter left, what shall I do? Maybe read or finish some needle work I have been putting off. We'll see! I wish I could talk Scott into taking me on a trip to Phoenix or some place warm and sunny as I sit here in my hoodie freezing to death!!! Only 4 weeks and 2 days until SPRING!!

I know what you mean about freezing. I don't think my toes warm up all winter. Of course, I dislike HOT, HOT, weather too. I'm more of a San Diego weather type girl.

I love all the painting. On Monday, I FINALLY - only 9 months later, painted Lexie's furniture. It turned out great. I only have about 5 more pieces to go.

I love those night stands. You are right. They are beautiful and so unique.

Again, you did a WONDERFUL job. It looks great! :)

And I keep telling Emmett to stop growing - he doesn't listen. haha

They look wonderful. Painting does bring such life to things. I guess the cold can't be too bad if it's getting you motivated to do things. I just want to sit under a blanket all day. :)

That is amazing! Usually when I get done with a project it doesn't look as good as I would like. You are really good at it! I have an old vanity that was my grandma's, you know the ones with the big round mirrors, I am thinking of painting it to see if it can really look better, but I will really take it over and have Andrew do it in the shop so I don't ruin it! thanks for the inspiration!
