Sea days rock, literally!!!

After 5 days of running from sun up to way passed sundown, I was really pumped for a day at sea. The ship was the Celebrity Summit and we loved it, Celebrity is our most favorite cruise line. I have never been on a ship with so many nice people, not just the crew but all the people. There were so many nationalities, with many speaking very little English. The sea day was on a Sunday and it was so nice to rest and think of our real meaning for being on this earth. We did not have church but we did rest (sleep in, Yay!!).

This is our wonderful waiter Saudi Ben from the Philippines. He went by Ben and I liked that because it felt so good to say that name as you might know why! He was very excited we didn't drink or smoke because he didn't either and it felt good to have that in common with his guests. We did tell him we are Mormon's and he said there are many Mormon's where he lives.

This is Ben's assistant Ramil, he is also from the Philippines. He tried for a few day to get us to drink coffee after dinner but soon realized it wouldn't be happening. A few of us (mainly Pam) did enjoy some tasty hot chocolate!! I think I had some 3 night our of 14 after getting chilly on some of our excursions.

The first day the water was smooth and we enjoyed the day of rest and some of the things the ship has to offer.

Food, hot tubs, food, trivial pursuit games, food, rousing games of who wants to be a millionaire, Newly wed not so newly wed games and did I mention FOOD!!! ( I must have done a lot of walking because I only came home with 4 extra lbs).

I think we were all pretty done in at this point of the day. We ate at the late seating at dinner that starts at 8:45. When were finally done it was about 10:15 (never and I mean NEVER again!!) It is way to difficult to just go to bed after eating so we always had to go see some more and even participate in activities after dinner (Karaoke any one??). I am so glad they have stopped having midnight buffets because you always have to eat just one thing, right?

Ahh! The Mediterranean!! On a calm night anyway (the next few days the water was quite rough. Can you say DRAMAMINE??). The following day was to be in Nice France but the weather report called for extremely high winds in the afternoon. The boat wasn't to dock it was to tender in the people. The Captain advised against risking getting us off land later in the day when the winds were supposed to come in. I had been in France 4 days before so I was grateful for another day at sea before we arrived in.... Florence, Italy..................to be continued.

Another great post. I love hearing about your adventure. I have a feeling it will be quite a few years before we are able to go. It is one of our "dream vacations".

I feel for you with the rough water. We had horrible water in Hawaii and we swore never again on cruising. I was in bed, holding my head, quite a few nights.

However, as with pregnancy and childbirth :), the memory diminishes and you forget the bad and only remember the good. So.... next time I'll get the RX patch and be ready for another sea adventure to "try again".
