Memorial Day

I was such a slacker this Memorial Day. I didn't take one picture of the family at the picnic at our house. Well I did just get in that morning from San Antonio and I got up at 4 am to get ready to catch our plane. We rushed home to make potato salad with my dear hubby's help, thank goodness Stacy had cleaned the house for me and set up chairs. We did have some excitement and thanks to Michelle my sister in law we have this picture to prove it, all I wanted to do was kill them!
Scott kept telling the kids that the snakes were wrestling, but we all know really what was happening. Our nephew found a website that said that these are gopher snakes and they lay from 2-20 eggs. Oh MY!!! I will be watching my step a lot closer in my yard now.

OK, just keep them in your yard! More reason not to do yard work!

OH MY GOSH! You didn't tell me about this! Scary. This must have been the kind of snake I saw dead in the road last summer. Ewwww! I'm just glad you said it was a gopher snake and not a rattle snake. Then I really would have freaked out. We'll have to keep this info on the down low. Ryan is terrified of snakes. If you want to see him scream like a little girl, you'll have to put one in our driveway for Ryan to find. Have the video camera ready because I'm sure it would make it on America's funniest home video and totally win! (I'm so mean:)

I'm debating whether to tell my boys about this. If I do, they'll want to be down there every day looking for them! Keep us posted!

Oh great. Our neighbor just caught one of these as well in their yard. I guess if you have to have snakes, this is the kind you want.
