The rest of the trip

When I became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I was 17 years old. I was baptized at 8 but my family was never really active. I knew there were a few active members of the church in my family but I was unaware that we had pioneer ancestors until I started to do some geneology at my husbands insistance. When we went on this church history trip I had found 2 names that I wanted to check out and was totally amazed at what we found. Not only did I have ancestors that were pioneers but they actually owned property in Nauvoo (the pictures above are where the property they owned is located on the corner of these streets) and came with the saints to Utah. When we visited the Seventies Hall they had been ordained Seventies as well. We visited the hall because Scott is a seventy.
So the reason for this post is to share with you the sites we visited, my testimony of this Church and my love for those who gave their all for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This is Carthage Jail where the Prophet was martyred. What a very sad and humbling place to visit.

This is Spring Hill that is named Adam- Ondi -Ahman by the Lord where Adam will hold his grand council.
This is Farr West where the Saints gathered after they were driven out of Kirtland and Independence. This is the site where the Temple was dedicated and the 12 met to leave for missions to England as prophesied by Joseph Smith. They left from here after a mob tried to stop them from fulfilling prophesy.

Then on to Independence (Jackson County) , Missouri . This is the only Temple visitor center with out a Temple, YET! This is where some of the saints were asked to go settle and purchase land for the Temple. Of course the mobs chased them out before the Temple could be built but we know that the Lord will make the Temple possible there before the 2nd coming. What alot of religious feelings in this place, in a 2 block radious there are so many churches to choose from.

Liberty jail was our next stop. To think that the Prophet and five others including the Prophets brother Hyrum spent six months locked up in the jail that was only 6 feet tall. One of the men Alexander McRae was 6'11" tall, he was never able to stand straight again for the rest of his life. Joseph was able to receive many revelations in this jail and is more sacred than almost an other place we visited.
I am so grateful for the chance to go on this trip and learn so much. To walk where the Prophet Joseph Smith walked and the many saints that sacrificed everything. I will never take it for granted again. I want all to know of my testimony that this the true church on earth today. We are so blessed to know that our Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayer. We have a Savior that has atoned for our sins if we will repent. They love us!! I'm grateful for a living Prophet today to guide us through this time. We can be together as families for eternity and that's what I want more than anything.

I love all of your pictures. Your trip looks amazing. We hope to do the same thing one day! Thanks for sharing all of them. I'm glad you guys had fun and you made it home safe and sound. I think Josh was a "good boy" while you were gone. We didn't notice any hair raising parties. :)

Seventy? How did I not know about this (and before you say it's because I'm out of the loop, Michelle didn't know either)? Is he currently a seventy, or does he have "emeritus" status?

I didn't realize that we were related to Mormon royalty...

All of this looks awesome! Glad you guys had a good time.
